Lake King recreational facilities

Walk Trails

The Lake King Trailswest heritage walk trails have marked paths, with many of the wildflowers named, for those who wish to undertake short walks around the town.

The main footpath links the old townsite, established 1928, with the newer area which was developed in the 1970’s.

This footpath is suitable for walkers, cyclists and wheelchairs, as is the loop from the caravan park to the golf course.

Other paths linked to the main trail are walks through divergent bushland (7 km in total), which pass through different ecosystems, including mallee woodlands, open salmon gum forests, kwongow heath, gimlet thickets and “winter” wetlands.

Roe Heritage Trail

This trail is a 23 km drive, which retraces parts of J S Roe’s historic journey in 1848.

It features flora and fauna reserves, historical sites, grain-growing countryside and panoramic views from Mt Madden.

Opportunities are also available for walking, climbing and picnicking, particularly at Pallarup Reserve, just off the bitumen, with picnic tables and water supplied.

Lake King Pavilion

Lake King cricket season runs from November through to March.

Lake King winter sports include netball, hockey and football, as well as junior sports.  The winter sports season runs from April through to September.

Lake King Kart Club

Operating monthly during the Kart season, Lake King is host to State level events throughout the year.

Lake King Golf Club

This is a public 18 hole golf course. Season runs from April through to October.

Visitors are welcome to join the club, or simply to have a hit on the course. Our weekend dates vary between Saturday and Sunday, depending on other winter sports.

Tennis, badminton and croquet are available, upon request at the General Store.
